Keeps the water clean and clear by killing bacteria
- Your ice bath works hard — and so does its UV sanitation system. The UV bulb is a critical component in keeping your water clean, clear, and safe to use between full water changes.
- As water circulates through your EIRA® Ice Bath or ALVA® ice bath, it passes through the UV sanitation system. Here, ultraviolet light targets and neutralises bacteria and microorganisms in the water — disrupting their ability to reproduce and survive. The result is cleaner, safer water with reduced reliance on chemical sanitisers alone.
- UV sanitation is designed to work as part of a layered hygiene approach. Whilst UV actively targets bacteria in the water, we always recommend using a primary sanitiser such as chlorine alongside it for complete water management. Together, they provide a more effective and reliable sanitation system than either method alone.
- We recommend that the UV bulb is replaced every 12 months as over time, UV bulbs lose their effectiveness — even if they still appear to be working. A degraded bulb emits less ultraviolet light, meaning bacteria may pass through the system without being properly neutralised. Replacing your UV bulb annually ensures your sanitation system continues to perform as intended, protecting your water quality and your health.
